Car Notes
2007.11.03 Ebay

York, PA, United States

Up for sale is a 1996 Black Camaro Z28 SS. This is SLP's car #2131. Car has T-Tops and a 6 speed manual transmission.
1996 Camaro SS's were the year of the return of the SS for the first time since 1972, GM has sent a total of 2410 cars to SLP to have them become SS's by adding/modifying different parts to seperate the SS Camaro from the standard Z28. Parts include 17" Aluminum SS wheels, SS functional ram air hood, Z28 SS Air box, porting the exhaust manifolds for better flow, SLP muffler, SS Spoiler, Car # on the console. Torsen rear differential and different cover, Belstien Shocks and springs and more, Of course the SLP Stickers on the driver door and under the hood to sperate the REAL ones from the clones. For all these reasons the 1996 Camaro SS is one of the most collectable SS's out there and they keep their value!
SLP made 818 in Black, no one really knows how many Black ones with a 6 speed.
Here, I'll tell you everything about the car, there are and will be NO surprises. I'm a mechanic myself and want to make sure I write everything I know about it .
I bought this beauty from Orlando a while ago and my intention was to turn it into the SS I always wanted, but my plans have changed and I need to sell it. The car sat in the sun (Orlando) and the paint is damaged. When I got the car I started working on fixing the paint and have it ready for a new paint job. Basically the hood and the rear spoiler along with the rear bumper are the parts that need most of the attention since they were exposed to most of the direct sun light. I sanded these parts and they look 10 times better now then before, but again this car needs a paint job if you want it flawless.
The car has small body damage on the front bumper cover and the driver fender as you see in the pictures. I have a bra for the car that covers the damage completely, and I can include it in the sale. However, I went and bought OEM Original GM parts at a local place where they had a Purple Z28 sitting for parts. So original parts will come with the car for you, again my intention was to fix and keep it but my loss is your gain! There are no other dents what so ever on the body, besides what I already mentioned, the rest of the car is in good shape. I could not really take pictures of every little scratch on the car, as you can see in the pictures there is a scratch on the passangers side fender. These pictures don't show all the scratches. Just remeber all this car really needs is a paint job, in my opinion.
Here are the things that I've done to the car since I got it two months ago:
1- 4:10 gears were proffessionally installed and they don't make any noises, unlike many other Camaro's out there with 4:10s.
2- Brand new 40 series Flowmaster with stainless steel Magnaflow exhaust tips.
3- Edelbrock heavy duty Torque Arm.
4- Centerforce Dual frection clutch set.
5- Drilled and Slotted rotors along with Hawk Brake pads on all 4 corners.
As you can tell, I started from the rear and wanted to move forward, all the money I put into it so far will go with it.
Car drives perfectly, I drove it from Orlando to PA, runs like a champ, no problems at all and no noises what so ever. Here are the things it'll need :
1- The Cd player I bought but didn't hook to the speakers yet, it's there but not hooked up, you can see it in the pictures.
2- I'm working on replacing the Temprature Gauge sensor, sometimes it works and some times it doesn't, I bought a new one and ready to replace it. (Don't worry, it's not the sensor on the water pump that operates the thermostat, car was never overheated and fans run automatically), it's just the GAUGE sensor.
3- Car will need an uper dash pad, it has a crack but you can't see it unless you look there.
I flushed the antifreeze system and did a tune up on it, new plugs and wires, not that it needed them, I just wanted to replace them. The 6 speed tranny shifts awesome, car was well taken care of mechanically before I bought it. It has 121k that were put on it driving between Orlando and Charlotte for school, it runs without any problems.
This is a beautiful Camaro SS that really just need some paint work, it's got plenty of power and the tires have more than 70% life left. I got it as a "project" for myself but I need the money. You can drive this car from PA to anywhere in the U.S. if you want to pick it up.
