Car Notes
This 2001 Chevrolet Camaro SS has just 319 miles and is #8 of 83 Intimidator examples produced. The car was sold new through Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet to Bud Moore, who raced in NASCAR during the 1960s and was a personal friend of Dale’s. The Intimidator package consisted of a unique paint scheme, a 381 horsepower LS1 small-block V8, performance air box, chambered exhaust system, 6-speed manual transmission with a Hurst shifter, a 3.73:1 Positraction rear-end, a special handling package, 17″ American Racing wheels, and unique badging. The original owner passed in 2017, and the car was passed to his wife. This Camaro is now being offered on behalf of the current owner with its window stickers, key chains, fitted car cover, a clear Carfax, and a clean South Carolina title in the owner’s name.

Of the 83 cars built, this particular example is one of 47 coupes. A “Magnetallic Grey” hood stinger and deck stripe were unique to this package, and the paint is said to show a few swirl marks. No accidents or other damage are reported on the Carfax.

The Intimidator package included progressive-rate front/rear springs with a lower ride height compared to the standard SS. A set of 17×9.5″ American Racing 5-spoke alloy wheels fill the wheel arches and are wrapped in the original Goodyear Eagle F1 tires.

Inside, the seats are covered in black leather and the original airbag-warning tag remains affixed to the radio. Intimidator-specific equipment includes embroidered floor mats, an emblem on the center console, and a Hurst short shifter.

Under the hood is a 5.7L LS1 V8 that was rated to produce 381 horsepower thanks to a unique intake system and chambered exhaust specific to the Intimidator package. Power is sent rearward through a 6-speed manual transmission and 3.73:1 Positraction rear-end. A new batter y will be installed and the oil will be changed for the next owner.

This car is one of 33 examples where Dale Earnhardt signed the silver-faced tachometer. The digital odometer shows just over 300 miles.

The GM and Intimidator window stickers accompany the sale, the latter of which lists a $40,381 MSRP.
